Artwork Description
Description
“Yoruba’s brew” acknowledging and understanding Trans-Atlantic migration routes of African slaves brought into this country. An estimated 3 Million Afro-Latinos currently live in the USA. Afro Latinos continue to be economically disadvantaged and underrepresented . ‘Yoruba’ brew’ is a spiritual channel that brings healing, peace, pride and joy.

Collection Statement
My paintings have been created within the last few months, they are visual whimsical narratives such as “Yourba’s brew”, a hechicera calling for peace and healing; a “Mayan Curandera” praying on their native language tzotzil and a third painting a “Xilomena” a corn fairy. These 3 paintings depict divine women showing strength, wisdom and beauty, each one surrounded by shiny gold where in many cultures, gold is a symbol of power, divinity and immortality.
