Artist Information
Bio
I am a self-taught oil painter learning from books, classes, and workshops. I grew up in the beautiful Northwest and graduated from the University of Washington. I have been sketching and painting from an early age. I began with watercolor and acrylic paint. Later in life, I became a resolute oil painter. I am a member of the EMERALD CITY ART COLLECTIVE where we participate in art shows around the Seattle area.
Besides art, I love animals, gardening, and travel. I live in the Seattle area with my husband.
Artist Statement
Creating art makes me happy. I enjoy the entire process from the beginning concept, the layout and color palette to the finished painting. My inspiration comes from diverse sources: nature, an interesting face, familiar objects or food or something from my imagination.
Sharing my art with others is especially important to me. I can’t imagine keeping out it of sight where no one will see it. For me, art is a connection shared with a community. I hope people will look at my work and see something that strikes a feeling or a familiar and cherished place they’ve been. I hope my art will inspire and bring you joy.
