Artist Information
Bio
Located in Seattle, Washington, Lisa began watercolor painting after deeply connecting with the serene creative practice that goes hand-in-hand with watercolor technique. Growing up in vibrant Louisville, Kentucky, Lisa was an avid artist as a child - never for a moment far from her sketchbook and ebony pencil. A twenty-year career in technology carried her away from the creative passions of her youth until late 2021, when she picked up a paintbrush for the first time and discovered a new way to connect with the world around her, and a new pace in life - one founded on meditative, gentle creation, rather than constant rushing to the next deadline. Since discovering watercolors she has not put her paintbrush down, and is constantly creating under the inspirational auspices of her natural surroundings in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, her Capitol Hill neighborhood, and any destinations of her wanderlust.Artist Statement
I take great joy in exploring cities new and old, in search of new hidden gems or revisiting companionable old haunts. I forge the deepest connections by wandering between neighborhoods, down overlooked streets, and into local bars and eateries. Presence, Attentive Observation, and Gratitude are core pillars of my creative practice; with my art I want to inspire viewers to to look both up and down. Stop for a moment on your walk to appreciate the unexpected colors in the clouds, the way our street lamps glow in the fog, or the reflection of traffic lights in puddles on a long, dark night. Take a breath during the intimacy of a conversation over cocktails to observe the luminous gleam of a candle through big ice, or the way the shadow falls over the bouquet on your table. Joy is a practice - I hope my art kindles moments of reflection for pleasures grand and small, as well as appreciation for city life on the doorstep of a natural wonderland.
