Artwork Description
Description
Color-blocked painting showing a bare branch tree, a red orb and black crow wing.
Collection Statement
I believe that the natural world is connected to the spiritual world. Birds represent the natural ability to navigate both land and sky making them powerful beings. Requiem I shows a crow’s wing. Requiem II shows an owl’s feather. By flying over the earth’s surface, they can see what we cannot. Birds can see from a perspective that humans can only see by flying with the help from a plane or spacecraft. The bare trees represent our mortality on earth as we’re simply visitors on this material plane. The red orb in each painting signifies transcendence to the spiritual plane as it floats upwards to the heavens. Requiem III conveys the final assent of all living beings to a greater consciousness and rebirth in the spiritual plane.
Artist Information
Bio
I am a self-taught oil painter learning from books, classes, and workshops. I grew up in the beautiful Northwest and graduated from the University of Washington. I have been sketching and painting from an early age. I began with watercolor and acrylic paint. Later in life, I became a resolute oil painter. I am a member of the EMERALD CITY ART COLLECTIVE where we participate in art shows around the Seattle area.
Besides art, I love animals, gardening, and travel. I live in the Seattle area with my husband, an eccentric cat named Pickles and a darling cockatiel, named Burt.
Artist Statement
Creating art makes me happy. I enjoy the entire process from the beginning concept, the layout and color palette to the finished painting. My inspiration comes from diverse sources: nature, an interesting face, familiar objects or food or something from my imagination.

Sharing my art with others is especially important to me. I can’t imagine keeping it out of sight where no one will see it. For me, art is a connection shared with a community. I hope people will look at my work and see something that strikes a feeling or a familiar and cherished place they’ve been.

I look for inspiration to fuel me. I hope my art will inspire and bring you joy.
