Hello, Thank you for your interest in my art!
Here is a little bit about me and how I got started…
I’ve always admired art but never been an artist. In early 2019, when I had an urge to paint a lotus, I went to Bereskin gallery in Bettendorf, Iowa, even though it was closing time, Pat (owner) patiently walked me through various mediums, styles and sent me home with a brush, few colors, tape, and canvas book. She asked me to follow my calling and just paint. At that time, I was dealing with a tremendous loss in my life and felt completely lost. Painting gave me space to process my emotions, allowed me to connect with myself and helped me overcome fear. When I am working on a painting, it’s cathartic, my emotions flow through the colors I choose and unspoken feelings come to a form. Painting allows me to let go and let be. I love bold, bright colors and gold. My inspirations come from my walks, sunsets and sunrises. My love for silk sarees comes through the color patterns I chose. Abstract gives me freedom to explore, stretches my imagination and allows me to express layer after layer. I hope when you view my paintings, it takes you where you want to go and how you want to feel. I enjoy exploring various textures and patterns. Textures take time to dry so I typically have a few paintings started at a time, I continue to work on it on and off adding little details, staring at it from a distance and closer. My favorite part is adding finishing touches, varnishing, painting the sides, adding a title and signing. I am thankful to be part of the selfless artist community, who are very open to share and appreciate each other's work.
I appreciate you stopping by to view my art, thank you for supporting artists! I wish you
the very best!
Vanitha
