Artist Statement

For as long as I can remember, I have loved gardens and flowers - some of my earliest memories are of helping my mother in her garden. She always grew the most beautiful, whimsically wild flower gardens. I always tried but never had her touch. Instead, I started painting flowers and gardens. Some inspired by her flower beds, others that I have photographed over the years, or just dreamed up. In a way, it helps keep her memory alive for me.

I work mostly in watercolor, because I love the loose, whimsical nature of the medium. It can capture the subtle elegance and depth of nature in a very light and free manner that is so inspiring to me.
