Carol Carson
Bio
I studied painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York and architecture at the New York Institute of Technology, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture and painting while there. I have made things my entire life, primarily drawing and painting initially, but always constantly exploring other media, in 2D and 3D forms. always making. I found my interest in glass more than 40 years ago, and ever since have been creating my ideas in both glass and painting. Always creating, recreating, interpreting, and reinterpreting, back and forth, exploring each medium and subject and how to conceive each work. My art has been shown in museums and can be found in galleries and private collections throughout the United States.
Artist Statement
I have made things my entire life. Painting has always been a place for me, a space I enter, and then try and convey what I feel, outwardly, with the intention that others can look at the work and feel drawn into it, into the spaces created. Inspired by the ability of color to transform space and depth, I see glass as a building medium. Glass allows me to build those spaces 3 dimensionally in color and light, in hopes of creating the feeling one can almost step into a piece.
