Carla Jennings
Bio
Like many artists, I've always had a strong creative urge. My love of design has led to various passions & businesses over time, including making silver jewellery for many years.I now create mixed media abstract art as it allows me freedom of expression I rarely felt as a child. The peace of wide open spaces grounds me & being immersed in the tiny details of nature fills me with awe. Battling with Complex PTSD, I find making art that reflects those two opposing worlds quiets my mind & helps me stay grounded & present. My hope is that my artwork also helps you to calm your mind & live in the moment.
Artist Statement
Beauty, calm, mindfulness & sensitivity are the primary incentives behind my art. Initially working from a very loose composition, allowing the inks to flow & create marks I could never have planned.Creating harmony & a sense of calm with a limited palette, I work intuitively, choosing materials that reflect the sense of freedom I feel when immersed in nature. These include hand printed collage papers using fresh foliage from my garden & Cornish hedgerows. Every painting is approached with a sensitive sense of play & free expression, going with the flow & listening to how my body feels.I hope as you view my artwork you’re reminded of the need to stay present and enjoy the lighter moments in life.
