Artwork Description
Collection Statement
Ieva’s recent works are focused on the female inner world and psychological state. Her vivacious use of paint and colour transforms female figure to reveal a space where fear shifts into desire, where familiar becomes strange and intimate becomes distant. Figures emerge in twilight with their faces and bodies illuminated by neon lights to reveal and hide their dark mysteries.
Artist Information
Bio
Born in Latvia and based in London, Ieva's paintings explore the representation of the female body and its relationship with the psyche. Through experimentation with paint and colour, Ieva's work seeks to push the boundaries of how fear, pain, desire, dreams and aspirations are socially and culturally inscribed in the female body.
