Bio
Art has been a part of my life for over 10 years now, making a strong presence when I need balance the most. Like many others, I leaned on art as an outlet to get through 2020. I poured a lot of energy into experimenting with new tools, perfecting certain techniques, and engaging with genuine fans. My focus this year is to push myself and work further to achieve a larger reach and more exposure in the art community. As a native New Orleanian who now lives in Seattle, I believe my hometown has heavily influenced my abstract style which has been described as ‘prolific’, ‘vibrant’ and ‘carefree’. I equally enjoy creating large statement pieces, miniature works, and abstracts on paper. I believe that the art people chose to fill their homes with is an expression of who they are, and the connection an individual has with a piece should be visceral and unique to them. My artwork is for the heart in the home, and it is my hope that each of my pieces speaks to a buyer in a personal way.
Artist Statement
Most of Ariane’s pieces to date have been color forward; bold and bright colors covering a canvas from edge to edge. Ariane recently released her Coral Reef Collection which is intended to bring awareness to the effects of climate change on our coastal seas, specifically coral reefs. The colors in the Coral Reef collection are representative of the colors we know and love of coral reefs. Coral are bright and colorful because of microscopic algae called zooxanthellae. However, as a result of climate change, the oceans are warming, and a change in water temperature—as little as 2 degrees Fahrenheit—can cause coral to drive out the colorful algae. This phenomenon is called coral bleaching. In some instances, corals can recover from bleaching if conditions return to normal, and stay that way. That’s why a percentage of all sales from this collection will be donated to an organization working to save coral reefs. Ariane created this collection as a call to action and a sign of hope while still delivering the joyful feelings her collectors enjoy when observing her work.
