Artist Statement
My work explores themes of displacement, otherness, and métissage. I work from a foundation of images collected from different places and times which provide a path towards meaning. These journeys are ways of questioning experience through time, form, and space. Because of the hybrid nature of my interests and influences, I use a mixture of materials and techniques (drawing, painting, printmaking) in my work. Nearly all of my work utilizes several media. I choose materials and techniques as a means of exploration and also as a way to expression. Although often started with a source image, the resulting work may be radically different. It is the constant feedback, action and reaction, which make the process unpredictable and revealing.
