{"title":"Richard Fuller","description":"My series of Abstract Sky Paintings are composed of horizontal bands and blocks of colour which are at once abstract and yet also evocative of the bands of colour seen in the sky. Executed using Michael Harding artisan oil paints on Bella Italia gesso panels from Italy, they are made by painting many thin layers of oil paint onto the pure white gesso of the wood panels.  With thin glazes of transparent colours, the brilliant white of the gesso panel shines through giving the paint a luminosity, an internal glow, in the manner of the \"Old Masters\".  This contrasts with thicker paint in other areas.  I often try to emphasise the three dimensional aspects of the paintings as some colours advance and others retreat or appear to be in shadow.
